Minimum Wage in Malaysia
It is until most recently before this issue been highlighted in the news by the mass media in Malaysia. I guess not all Malaysian are aware of it despite most of us are workers and labors.
I may not an economist or what, but few of my readings and understanding suggest at least to me that the absence of national minimum wage (NMW) in Malaysia has been contributing a lot to the persistence of poverty, be it urban or rural poverty in our country.
And today, what a shattering experience it was after streaming into the local news to find out that 33.9% of the workers in Malaysia especially in the public sector earn less than RM700 per month.
The statistic was released by Deputy Minister of Human Resources Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan in parliament yesterday.Teruskan..
