COP17 in Durban South Africa 2011

Posted in ALAM SEKITAR by Azrul Zabidi on 30/11/2011

Starting from 28th November to 7th December 2011 the 17th international climate talk on climate change (COP17) will be held in Durban South Africa.

The series of international talks derived from unanimous commitment by 194 nations after an international environmental treaty called United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was produced in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

I may not fully aware of this issue in depth before (as I was in my second year of primary school in 1992) but the issue of climate change or global warming successfully came into knowledge of the students in school.

Publicity and campaign had also reached the community superficially if not in great impacts.

I see all of those as sincere and noble efforts exemplified by most nations around the globe including Malaysia. Teruskan..

Minimum Wage in Malaysia

Posted in PENANG, UMUM by Azrul Zabidi on 15/11/2011

It is until most recently before this issue been highlighted in the news by the mass media in Malaysia. I guess not all Malaysian are aware of it despite most of us are workers and labors.

I may not an economist or what, but few of my readings and understanding suggest at least to me that the absence of national minimum wage (NMW) in Malaysia has been contributing a lot to the persistence of poverty, be it urban or rural poverty in our country.

And today, what a shattering experience it was after streaming into the local news to find out that 33.9% of the workers in Malaysia especially in the public sector earn less than RM700 per month.

The statistic was released by Deputy Minister of Human Resources Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan in parliament yesterday.Teruskan..

The New Model of Islamic Politic

Posted in POLITIK by Azrul Zabidi on 14/11/2011

The fall of the Uthmaniyyah Empire in 1924 had left Muslim in a disorganised world. Muslim countries lived on their own, in the modern world molded by their Western colonizers.

Then, the wind of hope was blown by As-Syahid Imam Hasan Al-Banna with the foundation of Ikhwanul Muslimin in 1928.

The influence of the movement spread over the Muslim globe hoping for a right direction in upholding Islam and re-united as one ummah.

Of course the idealism was not back by the West hence the equal Western secularist Muslims are appointed to continue the legacy of colonizers such as ‘divide and rule’ policy meant to disunite the Muslim nations despite having the same aqidah. Teruskan..

Sejarah Perjuangan Kemerdekaan

Posted in PENDIDIKAN, POLITIK by Azrul Zabidi on 11/09/2011

Teruskan..

Devalued Society

Posted in AGAMA, UMUM by Azrul Zabidi on 22/08/2011

It takes me a while before I can draw my view on this issue.

Riot in UK?!! Could this be true?

I am pretty much aware of strikes and picket that are already part of the society’s culture in expressing their democratic right.

Anti-cut strike is one of the example even though sometime it sounds too much political rather than a pure and sincere expression.

But seriously, a riot?!!(Or should I highlight merusuh)

This is indeed far from expectation. Teruskan..

Racial Integration in Malaysia

Posted in PROGRAM by Azrul Zabidi on 13/08/2011

On 11th of August 2011, I managed to attend a dialogue session with the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Sport and Youth, YB Senator Tuan Gan Ping Sieu.

It was organized by SMSA at the Student Union of the University of Sheffield. The participants were a small group of 30 from undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The YB first shared his own experience as a student himself in London twenty years ago. One of his regrets is not to make more Mat Saleh friend beside his Chinese and Hong Kong friends that he already had at that time.

Looking back then to compare it now, the YB said nothing is much different. There are still racial boundaries that stop us from enjoying the real meaning of integration among diverse ethnics. Teruskan..

Ramadhan Datang Lagi..

Posted in AGAMA by Azrul Zabidi on 07/08/2011

Teruskan..
